Maintenance
A tensile fabric structure from Aura has an expected design life of 20+ years, and with more than 1600 structures behind us, the first ones installed 20 years ago, we have real life proof that this is the case.
However we do recommend that you follow a simple annual maintenance procedure to ensure that your structure stays in optimal condition. You will receive an Operations and Maintenance manual describing this process when your structure has been installed and please note that your 10 year fabric warranty may be invalidated if the structure is not maintained correctly.
Annual maintenance
We recommend that the integrity of the structure is checked annually and particularly following extreme weather conditions such as winds over 70km/h or heavy snowfall. If you see anything that is even slightly concerning to you please call us and we will advise you promptly.
The canopy fabric has a Teflon type coating which means that dirt and pollution will usually was off in the rain. However an annual wash down with specialist cleaning products will keep the canopy looking its best. Cleaning procedures are described in full in the Operations and Maintenance manual.
The schedule onsite
You might be surprised to hear that it is usually possible to install 100m2 of covered space in a single day. The foundations will be installed at least one week before the structure in order to allow the concrete to cure correctly before the structure can be secured to it. You will receive our Risk Assessment and Method Statement documents well before the installation date (as is standard practice for the construction industry) for approval and sign off so that you are fully aware of how we intend to carry out the works.
Once the installation is completed we can arrange for the ground surface to be reinstated as original or for your chosen covering to be laid for example tarmac, paving or soft play surface. We will of course ensure that we always leave the site as we found it.
If you are a prospective Education customer we will be pleased to discuss the possibility of using the canopy installation as an opportunity for learning. We can give seminars on how a tensile fabric structure works; making the learning fun and interactive or we can provide talks on health and safety aspects of construction.
Aura maintenance services
Offering appropriate maintenance is intrinsic to our service and helps us to ensure that our canopy structures surpass expectations. For customers that would prefer not to undertake canopy maintenance themselves we offer either a one off maintenance visit or an annual Maintenance Contract. The Maintenance Contract can be arranged at any time following the installation of the canopy without any difference in cost.
